Committees/Commissions of the Presbytery support mission, administration, education, leadership, and communities throughout the Greater Atlanta region and beyond. If you are interested in serving on a committee/commission, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form (VIF) linked below. The VIF informs the Nominating Committee about a volunteer’s skills and interests, which aids in the nominating process.

Council is responsible for the discernment of the Presbytery’s vision and coordination of the Presbytery’s programs across committees, commissions, partnerships, and other entities.

The Commission on Ministry serves to guide the relationship of support, connection, and accountability between the Presbytery and its congregations.

The Commission on Preparation for Ministry guides the preparation of those seeking ordination as ministers of Word and Sacrament.

Tasked with catalyzing the development of new worshiping communities, the New Church Development Commission (NCDC) provides startup support and cultivates a vibrant eco-system within Greater Atlanta for new worshiping communities and their leaders to thrive.

The Operations Commission provides oversight, support, guidance, and subject matter expertise to Presbytery staff who plan, manage, and execute daily activities in connection with, including but not limited to, administration, technology, property, finance, and investment resources.

The Examinations Commission is responsible for the examination of all ministers of the Word and Sacrament and candidates seeking membership in the Presbytery.

The Nominating Committee seeks persons to lead the Presbytery’s work and presents these names to the Presbytery as candidates for election to the respective offices and positions

The Presbytery Meeting Planning and Worship Committee assists the Presbytery Moderator and Council in planning worship and the order of business for meetings of Presbytery.

The Racial Healing Committee provides resources for programming, pastoral training, and congregational support in resisting the rising tide of racism in our cities, state, nation, and world and in living into the Matthew 25 ministry of the Presbytery and its congregations.

The Committee on Representation (required by G-3.0103) seeks to assist the Presbytery in better reflecting the full diversity of God’s church, with special attention to those categories mandated in the Book of Order at F-1.0403.

The Personnel Committee provides support and guidance to the Executive Presbyter and other staff, manages the Personnel Handbook and position descriptions, and offers other tools in support of the
Presbytery staff.

The Permanent Judicial Commission is established by Chapter 3 of Church Discipline in the Book of Order to complete the Presbytery’s responsibilities for judicial process.

Prior to a meeting of the General Assembly, the Committee on Bills and Overtures facilitates the Presbytery’s consideration of overtures submitted to the Presbytery from its sessions. Following a meeting of the General Assembly, the Committee leads the Presbytery’s discernment of amendments to the Constitution that come from the Assembly for action.
