Black Maternal Health Webinar
Presented by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Washington Office in collaboration with the United Methodist Church
The COVID-19 epidemic has demonstrated that the US health care system's long-standing disparities have gone unaddressed for far too long and have left many vulnerable, specifically Black mothers and their families.
Black moms in the US are 3 to 4 times as likely to die from pregnancy-related complications and Hispanic, Native American, & Asian American and Pacific Islanders experience disproportionate mortality and morbidity rates as well.
Join us on Thursday, March 25 at 3 pm EST, as we discuss the inequities in Black maternal health and the need to advocate for policies that address racial disparities in our health care system.
This discussion will feature voices from grassroots maternal health and reproductive justice organizations. We will also have a special guess to talk about the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act.
Featuring:
Min. Laura K. James- Program Coordinator for Grassroots Organizing, United Methodist General Board of Church and Society
Aza Nedhari LM, CPM, MS., Executive Director of Mamatoto Village
Special guest to talk about the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act
*Moderated by Christian Brooks, Domestic Policy Representative, Presbyterian Church (USA) Office of Public Witness
