Victor Aloyo to preach on “Day 1”
President and professor of practical theology at Columbia Seminary

ATLANTA — The Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo, Jr., president and professor of practical theology at Columbia Seminary in Decatur, Ga., is the featured preacher October 29 on “Day 1” with host Peter Wallace, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast.

“Love – An Imperative of Hope!” is drawn from Matthew 22:34-46, a passage recording Jesus’s answer to the religious leaders who ask him what the greatest commandment is. “These two great commandments have become like an old familiar song,” he says. “The tune has been so overplayed that it no longer calls us to the dance floor.”

A graduate of the College of New Rochelle in New York, Aloyo earned his M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania. Before coming to Columbia, he served as chief diversity officer and associate dean of institutional diversity and community engagement at Princeton Theological Seminary. He was the organizing and lead pastor of La Iglesia Presbiteriana Nuevas Fronteras in North Plainfield, N.J.  

The program includes interviews with Aloyo conducted by Wallace, who is also executive producer.
