The Rev. Dr. Joanna M. Adams to preach on ‘Day 1’

The Rev. Dr. Joanna Adams is the featured preacher September 3 on “Day 1” with host Peter Wallace, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.organd by podcast.
“The Complaint Department,” is based on Jeremiah 15: 15-21, a passage in which the prophet Jeremiah questions the Lord about why he suffers. “Being God’s mouthpiece had turned out not to be the most glorious vocation in the world. The people won’t listen to him,” she says. “Jeremiah really has a bone to pick with the Almighty.”
Adams, a preacher, pastor, and church leader, is known for building bridges of understanding in the community and the church. She served as associate pastor of Central Presbyterian in Atlanta, pastor of North Decatur Presbyterian, senior pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, co-pastor of Fourth Presbyterian in Chicago, senior pastor of Morningside Church in Atlanta, and interim senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. An Emory University graduate, she earned her M.Div. at Columbia Theological Seminary. She holds an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Davidson College in North Carolina. Over the years she has been involved in leadership of many non-profit organizations focused on issues of social justice, community welfare, Presbyterian initiatives, and interfaith relationships.
